The Issue: Lamoine has only three public access points for 25 miles of shoreline. Recreators, wormers and clammers lack sufficient opportunity to get to the ocean. Improved access could enhance the local economy for both fishing and recreation.
The Proposal: the town should actively seek access to the ocean by acquiring shoreland in fee, donation or easement. This land could provide a mix of services in addition to access.
